The daughter of Gerald and Irene VanNatta, Joan was born in Brooklyn in March of 1943. She grew up on Long Island in the Islip area, and had lived in Oneonta and Roxbury before coming to Norwich approximately 20 years ago. Joan liked to watch game shows on the television, listen to Christian music, and crochet. She looked forward each night to a game of cards with her husband.

NORWICH – Gertrude T. Jaquay, 94, formerly of Norwich, passed away Friday, Nov. 30, 2007, in the Moore Memorial Hospital of Pinehurst, N.C.
Born in Norwich in September of 1913, Gertrude was the daughter of Frank and Emma (Utter) Thompson. Following her years in the Norwich schools, she married Lucius B. Jaquay in Pharsalia on Dec. 31, 1930. Gertrude began her working years with the W.T. Grant Company, and later was employed by the S & H Green Stamp Store as its manager. NORWICH – Robert C. Smith, 84, of Elm Street, passed away peacefully on Thursday, Nov. 29, 2007 at his home.
Born March 22, 1923 in Norwich, Robert was the son of Claude E. and Aurelia (Cevasco) Smith. He knew but one residence, acquired by his grandparents, Louis and Rose Cevasco in 1908. The same property his parents and his aunt Evelyn Cevasco lived in.
