Douglas Muzzy


NORWICH – Douglas Spoor Muzzy, was born Feb. 12, 1917 in Binghamton and passed away at 12:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 14, 2007 in Cox Medical Center South, Springfield, Mo. at the age of 90 years, 10 months and 2 days.
Douglas was a dairy farmer and had also worked as a district manager for the Chenango Soil and Water Conservation District in Norwich for several years. He was a member of the Masons and attended the Four Rivers Church in Marshfield, Mo. Douglas was also a charter member of the Country Heritage Spinning and Weaving Guild in Ava, Mo., and was also a charter member of the Highland Fiber Artist in Marshfield, Mo. where he was the 1st Annnual Superintendent of the Fiber Fair in Marshfield, Mo.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, David and Douglas; a brother, Don Muzzy; and a sister, Carol Robertson.
Survivors include his wife, Helen Grace; four daughters, Donna Sperling and her husband, Roger, of Remsen, Dianne Muzzy of Binghamton, Dale Crowley and her husband, Thomas, of Manchester, N.H. and Dorothy LaPierre and her husband, Lee, of Woburn, Mass.; 23 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; two step-daughters, Robin Farris of Springfield, Mo. and Bonnie McLean of Niangua, Mo.; three step-sons, Donald Lindsay of Hartford, Conn., Jeffrey Yohe of Pleasanton, Calif. and Mark Yohe of Boynton Beach, Fla.; seven step-grandchildren; and John Ferris, Fair Grove, Mo. and Tim Mclean of Marshfield, Mo.
His body has been cremated. Memorial services under the direction of Fraker Funeral Home, will be at 2:30 p.m. on Friday in the Four Rivers Church, Marshfield, Mo., with Pastor Vernon Leighty officiating. Interment will be at a later date.
