Robert Conron


NORWICH – Robert M. Conron, 52, life-long and well-known Norwich resident, passed away Sunday, Dec. 2, 2007 at the Wilson Regional Hospital of Johnson City.
The son of Robert W. “Diz” and Henrietta “Etta” (Rhodes) Conron, Bob was born in Norwich in December of 1954. Following his years in St. Paul’s School, he attended Norwich High School where he became active in both football and wrestling. Bob graduated from Norwich High School in 1972, attended SUNY Canton for two years, then attended Clarkson University, graduating in 1977 with a degree in small business management. He returned home to Norwich and went to work for his dad at Conron Plumbing and Heating until 1981. He became an employee of Norwich Eaton Pharmaceuticals just three months prior to their acquisition by Procter & Gamble. Bob continued with P&G and its successors, working in various departments. Most recently he worked for Norwich Pharmaceuticals, Inc. in Quality Assurance.
Bob was active in the Chenango Soccer Club. He served as a soccer referee for high school and club games. Bob also served on the Norwich City School Board and was a graduate of the Leadership Chenango Program.
On Nov. 29, 1980, in St. Paul’s Church in Norwich, Bob married Vicki Chrzan. He is survived by his wife, Vicki Conron, and daughters Kathryn, Karen, Kerry Beth, and Korinna Conron, all of Norwich; by his sisters, Marie Fallen and husband Jerome of Binghamton, and Maureen Conron of Norwich; and brothers William V. Conron of Long Island, Michael P. Conron and wife Cindy of State College, Pa., and Timothy J. Conron of Syracuse. Nieces and nephews also survive.
Bob was a kind and gentle man loved by all who knew him. He was a loving father and husband. His family wishes to thank their friends and also the staff of Wilson Hospital North Tower 3 for their love and care these past few weeks.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Bob will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday from St. Paul’s Church. The Rev. Douglas Cunningham, pastor, will officiate. Interment in the spring will be in St. Paul’s Cemetery. Friends are invited to call at the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
