Hugh Short


SHERBURNE – Hugh L. Short, 70, of Sanitarium Road, passed away Thursday, Dec. 13, 2007 at Community Memorial Hospital, Hamilton.
He was born Jan. 19, 1937 in New Haven, Conn., a son of the late Thomas and Victoria Poloski Short and received his education in local schools. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1955, serving aboard the USS Saratoga until his discharge in 1959. On Feb. 17, 1961, Hugh was united in marriage to Charlotte A. Losee in Norwich. He was a truck driver for Continental Bakery Co. in Utica until his retirement in 2004.
Hugh was a life member of the Loyal Order of Moose #364 of Norwich, and a member of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, AFL-CIO, Local #182 of Utica.
Surviving are his wife, Charlotte; his children, Michael and Glenda Short of Oklahoma City; Victoria and Mark Burgess of Sherburne; Wendy Short and her fiancé, Joseph Panzo of Earlville; a sister, Eddie Foch of New Haven, Conn.; a brother-in-law, Thomas Kosky of New Haven, Conn.; eight grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Robert Short, and a sister, Marion Kosky.
Services and interment are private at the convenience of the family.
Contributions in his memory may be made to the Columbus Community Church, 4311 State Highway 80, New Berlin, NY 13411.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 3 Preston St., Earlville, NY.
