Sharon Hunter


OXFORD – Sharon Hunter, 57 of Oxford, passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, December 24, 2007.
Born December 29, 1949 in Bainbridge, Sharon was the daughter of Kenneth and Virginia (Holt) Hartwell. She graduated from Oxford Academy and Central School and Syracuse University. Sharon was employed at one time at the New York State Veteran’s Home in Oxford, and later by UHS at Binghamton General Hospital as a medical transcriptionist. 
On March 1, 1969, she married Martin Hunter, who survives. Also surviving is a son, Patrick Hunter and his wife Kimberly of Endicott, a daughter, Yvonne Morehead of Norwich, and three grandchildren, Galen, Allyson and Raffe. Sharon is also survived by three brothers, Roy Kenneth Hartwell and his wife Mary of Colorado Springs, Colo., David Hartwell and Rick Squires.
Sharon loved to read, but her family and her friends were the most important things in her life. Sharon’s family would like to thank her many friends and caregivers who were with her through her illness, especially Karen Miga. They would also like to acknowledge “Sharon’s Angels,” who participated in her name in the Cancer Society Walk for Life.
Funeral services for Sharon will be held on Saturday, December 29 at 11 a.m. at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Oxford. Rev. Glenn Mahaffey, rector of Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Norwich, will officiate. Friends are invited to call at the Behe Funeral Home in Oxford on Friday from 5 to 8 p.m.
