Thomas Csiha


NORWICH – Thomas Csiha, 47, of Norwich, passed away Thursday evening, December 20, 2007, in the Chenango Memorial Hospital.
The son of Andrew and Constance “Connie” Atwater Csiha, Tom was born in New Hartford in November 1960. At a young age he moved with his family to Sherburne where he attended and graduated from the Sherburne-Earlville High School in 1979. In the early 1980s he moved to Florida and on March 30, 1983 in Florida he married Susan Carpenter.
In 1984 Tom and his wife moved back to Norwich where they continued to make their home. While living in Norwich Tom had worked as a security guard for Proctor & Gamble and as a cook for several area restaurants including Fred’s Inn, Grove Park, and Howard Johnson’s. He also worked for the Chenango County Sheriffs Dept. and the Community Workshop. For the past several years he had been employed by Michael Stroh Painting.
An easy going sort of guy, Tom enjoyed the outdoors, playing his guitar and was known to be somewhat of a joker.
Tom is survived by his wife Susan, his daughter Dawn Csiha and his mother Connie Smith all of Norwich, his sisters, Veronica Palmer and husband Neil of Rochester, Shari Williams and husband Mark of Norwich, his half sisters, Kahara Phetteplace of Little Falls, Julie Smith of Norwich, Ruth Smith of Oxford and his brother Andrew Csiha and wife Sandy of San Pedro, CA. Also surviving is his grandchild Esper Phillips and his Uncle Robert Atwater of Fla. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
Funeral services for Tom will be held on Friday, Dec. 28, at 1 p.m. from the Bible Baptist Church of Norwich. The Rev. Ralph Hinman, Pastor will officiate. Interment will be at a later date in the Episcopal Church Cemetery of Sherburne.
Friends may call on Friday, Dec. 28, from 11 to l p.m. at the Bible Baptist Church, Birdsall Street, Norwich.
Arrangements are with the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home.
