NORWICH – Frank G. Walker, 82, of Norwich, passed away Saturday evening, July 3, 2010, in the Chenango Memorial Hospital.
The son of Frank James and Alice Anderson Walker, Frank was born in Niagara Falls, Canada, in July of 1927 and moved to the Norwich area at a young age. He was a 1947 graduate of the Norwich High School and a veteran of the Korean Conflict, having served his country in the U.S. Army from January of 1950 through his honorable discharge in May of 1954. McDONOUGH – Marion E. Bassett, 86, of McDonough, passed away at her home on Friday evening, July 2, 2010.
Funeral services for Marion will be held at 10 a.m. Friday from the Faith Bible Church of Oxford. Pastor Norman Holtz will preside. Interment will be in Riverview Cemetery of Oxford. Friends are invited to call at the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home on Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m.

PORTLAND, Maine – Louis Boydston Butterfield, 47, of Codman Street, died unexpectedly on June 29, 2010, at his home.
Lou was born on May 19, 1963, in Charleston, S.C., the son of Dr. James L. Butterfield and Joan O. Waldron. He grew up in New Berlin, where he enjoyed small-town life, playing little league baseball, and participating on the wrestling team. Lou was the valedictorian of the New Berlin Central School Class of 1981.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Bartholomew’s Catholic Church on Tuesday, July 6 at 11 a.m. followed by interment at St Paul’s Cemetery.

NORWICH – Joan A. Vidler, 85, of Norwich, passed away Wed., June 30, 2010, at the Community Memorial Hospital in Hamilton.
Born in Coventry, England in May of 1925, Joan was the daughter of William Arthur and Nora Alice Wardle Ashby. She married her husband of 56 years, Hubert L. Vidler, in Coventry on July 8, 1944. During WWII, Joan served in the Auxiliary Air Force. Following her move to the United States, she settled in Norwich and was employed for 28 years by Norwich Eaton Pharmaceuticals, and its successor, P&G, retiring as a finisher.

NORWICH – Nickolas D’Agostino, age 101, died June 29, 2010 at Gilmour Nursing Home in Norwich.
A builder and finish carpenter, Nick was well known for his handcrafted dollhouse furniture. An ardent outdoorsman all his life, he loved swimming, hunting and fishing. He was a Boy Scout leader and a founding member of the Chenango Valley Trout Unlimited chapter, of which he was an active member until his death.
