Frank Walker


NORWICH – Frank G. Walker, 82, of Norwich, passed away Saturday evening, July 3, 2010, in the Chenango Memorial Hospital.
The son of Frank James and Alice Anderson Walker, Frank was born in Niagara Falls, Canada, in July of 1927 and moved to the Norwich area at a young age. He was a 1947 graduate of the Norwich High School and a veteran of the Korean Conflict, having served his country in the U.S. Army from January of 1950 through his honorable discharge in May of 1954. He and his wife, the former Evelyn Breed, were married on June 14, 1953, and residents of Plymouth Street since 1959. Frank worked for a total of 40 years for the Norwich Pharmacal Company and its successors, retiring from P&G in 1993 as an Administrative Assistant. An avid reader and a fan of the cartoons in the New Yorker magazine, he enjoyed photography, woodworking and fast cars.
Frank is survived by his wife of 57 years, Evelyn Walker of Norwich; his son, Brian Walker and wife Esther of Norwich, and daughter, Ruth Ann Walker-Gray and husband Timothy of East Syracuse; and grandchildren Megan Walker-Gray and Ryan Walker-Gray. Nieces and nephews also survive. Frank was predeceased by his brother, William Walker.
Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of Frank’s family at the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home, with Rev. Jeremy Stopford, pastor of the Earlville Baptist Church, officiating. There will be no calling hours. Interment will be in the North Norwich Cemetery.
