Ralph Carnrike


NORWICH – Ralph M. Carnrike, 86, a life long Norwich resident, passed away on Monday, July 19, 2010, in the New York State Veterans’ Home of Oxford where he has made his home since 1983.
Born in Norwich in Sept. of 1923, Ralph was the son of Ralph M. and Clara Meade Carnrike Sr. He grew up in Norwich and attended the Norwich schools. In December of 1942, he chose to serve his country and enlisted in the United States Army serving his country until his honorable discharge in January of 1946 serving in the 1105th Army Air Forces Base Unit. A resident of Norwich his entire life Ralph had worked for the former Berglas Co. and the Norwich Knitting Mill. He had also worked for a period of time for Stan Breward’s Landscape Service in Norwich.
Ralph is survived by his brothers Richard H. Carnrike and George W. Carnrike Sr. and his wife Alice, all of Norwich. Many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews also survive.
Ralph was predeceased by his sister Alice Wright and his brothers Robert and Albert Carnrike.
A funeral service for Ralph will be held at 1 p.m. Friday from the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home. The Rev. Jeremy Stopford, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Earlville, will officiate. Interment with full military rites will follow in the Mt. Hope Cemetery.
Friends may call at the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home on Friday from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at 1 p.m.
