NORWICH – Alene R. Smith, 89, of 24 Canasawacta Street, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 31, 2010 at Chenango Memorial Hospital. Born in Bainbridge on Oct. 17, 1920, Alene was the daughter of Edward John “Jack” and Lila (Albright) Peckham. She graduated from Bainbridge High School with the Class of 1938 and received her associate’s degree from Delhi Tech in 1940. Alene worked as a food service supervisor in several locations before retiring in 1977 from Delaware County BOCES.
