Earl Maricle


NORWICH – Earl L. Maricle, 82, of Norwich, passed away Monday afternoon, Aug. 2, 2010 in the Chenango Memorial Hospital.
Born in Triangle in January of 1928 to Raymond and Elizabeth Brown Maricle, Earl grew up in South Plymouth and attended the local school. For over 30 years, he was employed as a truck driver and heavy equipment operator by the Chenango County Highway Department.
Earl is survived by his children and their spouses: LeRoy and Rose Maricle of South Plymouth, Jeri Lynn Naffky of Cary, N.C., Kathleen Maricle of Anchorage, Alaska, Robin Maricle of Buffalo, Grace Adsit and fiancé Leonard Pardo of Norwich, Karen Adamow of Cary, N.C., Richard and Julinda Maricle of Fort Bragg, N.C., Elizabeth and David Backus of Earlville, Rachel Maricle of Burnsville, N.C., Rebecca and James Slater Jr. of Earlville, Naomi Maricle of Sedalia, MO, Ruthann Maricle and fiancé Shawn Brazee of Norwich, Jacob Maricle of Eaton, and his step-daughter, Hope Reel of Eaton. Also surviving are 30 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews; Earl’s sisters and their husbands, Bette and Lloyd Bertsch of Merrit Island, Fla. and Lucy and Ted Conant of Norwich; son-in-law Dmitri Adamow of South Plymouth; and former wives Laurie Hunsinger of Tennessee and Virginia Maricle of Clyde. Earl was predeceased by his former wives Barb and Sandy; his brothers Edwin, Ernest “Ike,” Millard, Louis and Charles Maricle and Laura Curley and Beatrice Muhlfeld.
Earl’s family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at Chenango Memorial Hospital for the special care given Earl, and for the care given at the Valley View Nursing Home.
Funeral services for Earl will be held at noon on Saturday from the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home. The Rev. Jeremy Stopford, of the First Baptist Church of Earlville, will officiate. Interment will be in the Mt. Hope Cemetery. Friends are invited to call at the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at noon.
