SYRACUSE – Zeland S. Boice, 65, of Syracuse, passed away unexpectedly on Aug. 28, 2010 in Syracuse.
He was born on March 6, 1945 in New Lisbon, the son of Zeland and Rosilee (Harden) Boice.
His childhood was spent in the Morris and Garrattsville, areas where he attended Edmeston and Morris Central Schools. Zeland served two tours duty in the U.S. Army from 1962-1971 during the Vietnam War where he received the Purple Heart. He was later employed as a truck driver and bus driver for various employers.
Zeland is survived by two children: Zeland and his wife Kristen of Sherburne and Teri and her husband Donald Wright of Marshall, Mo. as well as six grandchildren. He is also survived by one sister: Candee Hasbrouck and one sister-in-law; Darlene Boice of Delhi. He was predeceased by two brothers, William and Jay Boice.
Funeral services will be held st 11 a.m. Thursday at the Dakin Funeral Home, LP in New Berlin, with the Reverend George Whitman officiating. Burial will follow at the Hillington Cemetery, Morris. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 6 to 9 p.m., also at the funeral home.
