NORWICH – On a windy Sunday afternoon, the Norwich Post #189 legion baseball team hosted Windsor for their fifth game of the summer season. Norwich fell 14-1 as Windsor was able to hit the ball hard off Norwich pitchers and roughed up the defense.

Norwich had opportunities with runners in scoring position, but scored its lone run in the bottom of the fourth inning. Down 10-0, Kaden Downey drilled a deep ball to left field and raced home for a home run. He led the team with two hits as Zac Turner had a lead-off single in the bottom of the first inning as the only hits on the day.

Norwich also saw great fielding assists from third baseman Collin Reid with a majority of the fielding chances, including back-to-back put outs in the top of the third inning. He also made a great line out catch to start the top of the fifth inning.

Jackson Sastri and Mikey Brunick split time on the mound for Norwich. Sastri went four innings and Brunick closed out the five-inning game. Both combined with five strikeouts in the loss as Sastri struck out four batters and Brunick one.
