Last Week To Register For Chenango Arts Council Trip To The Metropolitan Museum Of Art, September 26

NORWICH — The Chenango Arts Council (CAC) is preparing for their bus trip to the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City, Saturday, September 26.

The bus will depart at 7 a.m. from the Arts Council parking lot at 27 W. Main St., Norwich, and return at approximately 10 p.m.

Registration is currently open through September 10 at ChenangoArts.org. Cost is $140 per person, which includes museum admission and transportation.

Food and drinks are permitted as there will be no scheduled stops between the CAC and the museum. Bathroom facilities are available on the bus.

“Arrival at the museum will be 11 a.m. and guests can tour the museum at their own leisure until 5 p.m.,” said CAC Executive Director Alecia O’Neill.

In addition to permanent collections spanning Ancient Egypt, Greece, China, Africa and the Americas, O’Neill noted the Met features several dining options and temporary exhibits.

Works by renowned artists such as Claude Monet, Vincent van Gogh and John Singer Sargent are on display, alongside famous pieces including John Singer Sargent's "Madame X" and Emanuel Leutze's "Washington Crossing the Delaware."

CAC Programming and Development Coordinator Mary Beth Miller highlighted two limited-run exhibits: "Musical Bodies," which explores how instruments inform visual arts and self-expression through Sept. 27, and "Costume Art," which connects Costume Institute items with other museum collections through January 2027.

The Chenango Arts Council is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Gallery viewings can be scheduled by calling 607-336-2787 or emailing info@chenangoarts.org.
