BAINBRIDGE – The Bainbridge-Guilford Softball team celebrated the 2023 season opener with a big offensive day in the 15-7 win over Charlotte Valley on Wednesday.

After the Wildcats took an early 1-0 lead in the first, B-G answered back fiercely with seven runs in the second inning. The inning was led by Danica Park, Jordyn Parsons, and Celeste Baldwin offensively while Charlotte Valley had some trouble with fielding errors. They committed five errors in total in a shaky start that helped provide runs for the Bobcats. B-G scored eight earned runs in the contest.

The Bobcats collected 14 hits on the day with Danica Park paving the way as she went 3-for-4 with a triple and one run batted in. Jordyn Parsons earned three RBIs in the win as she went 2-for-3 while teammates Breanna Casey and Alessandra Cafasso drove in two runs each.

Casey also stole two bases and scored two runs as teammate Johnna Henderson stole three bases.

Gabriella Cuozzo earned the start for the Bobcats on the mound, where she picked up her first win of the season. She went five innings on 97 pitches and allowed three runs on five hits, walked five, and struck out eight batters.

Senior Celeste Baldwin came in for two innings of relief. The offense helped out tremendously to hold on to the lead in the game with Charlotte Valley threatening late.
