AFTON — The Afton Central School District Board of Education is pleased to announce the appointment of Nicholas A. Colosi as Superintendent of Schools effective July 18.

Colosi brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in education to the district. He comes to us from the Sherburne-Earlville School District where he has served most recently as the High School Principal. Prior to this, he served in the role of Assistant Principal.

Colosi spent 11 years as a science teacher in the Tully Central School District working with both middle and high school students. He holds NYS certification as a School District Business Leader, School Building Leader, and School District Leader. He has worked as a science department chair, and as a coach/advisor to many different teams and clubs. He has served as a mentor and supervisor for aspiring administrators and pre-service teachers.

Colosi has been involved as a volunteer in many community organizations including Sherburne Rotary Club and Chenango United Way, serving as the campaign co-chair in 2020. He is supported in this role by his family; Kelly, his wife, who is a school social worker with the Norwich City Schools, and two children, Emma and Abby. He looks forward to working with students, parents, and the community in this role.


Please join us in welcoming Colosi to our District. He will be present at the July 7 Board of Education meeting at 7 p.m. in the school’s board room. We invite you to take this opportunity to welcome Colosi.

Afton Upon his appointment, he indicated that he is very proud and looking forward to being a part of the school community. We are confident that Colosi will serve the District with the same Afton Knight dignity and pride that we all share for our school.
