SOFTBALL: Greene Wins Three Over The Weekend

CHENANGO COUNTY– The Greene Trojans softball team traveled to Walton on Friday where they continued their win streak with a 19-1 victory. The team also participated in the Tesla Tournament, where they defeated both Newark Valley and Oneonta.

Against Walton, Olivia Kennedy and Payton Yahner combined to pitch a five inning no hitter, but Walton scored on Greene’s errors. They also struck out a combined 13 batters and no walks were given up.

Kennedy went 4-for-5 with a double and two RBIs while DJ Lora went 2-for-4 with four RBIs and scored two runs.

Adreana Romano, Kylie Ferris, and Natalie Scofield also each had two hits.

Payton Yahner was the game MVP with 12 strikeouts on the mound.

McKenzie Scott was the tournament MVP, going 4-for-4 with a double and a triple, two RBIs, and scored five runs.

Kylie Ferris went 2-4 with an RBI and Abbey Yahner also went 2-5 with an RBI.

Game two: Greene 6- Oneonta 0

Olivia Kennedy was named the game MVP as she pitched a no-hitter with 16 strikeouts against Oneonta.

The only batter to reach base was on a line drive hit in the second that didn’t stay in Abbey Yahner’s glove, marking an error. But, Greene’s McKenzie Scott threw the batter out as she was caught stealing second.

Scott continued having a great day at the plate as she went 2-for-3 with a double.

Payton Yahner also went 2-for-3 with a two-run home run in the first inning and had a total of four RBIs. Abbey Yahner was a perfect 3-for-3 with all singles.
