Norwich volleyball serves up sweep of Chenango Valley

Norwich 3, Chenango Valley 0

FENTON - Norwich's volleyball team continued its winning ways in the young fall season rolling to a 25-8, 25-14, 25-9 sweep of host Chenango Valley on Thursday afternoon.

Great serving was the order of the day for the Purple Tornado. Maddy Morris and Lauren Squires successfully placed 39 out of 39 services. Squires led Norwich with eight total aces to go with a team-best 17 kills.

Morris, meanwhile, again topped the Norwich setters with 14 assists. Joana Santos topped the NHS defense charting a team-best seven digs.

Oxford 3, Unatego 0

OXFORD - Mallory Olsen-Nichols had a career night from the service line.

Olsen Nichols had 20 overall aces in the Blackhawks' 25-10, 25-0, 25-7 victory over Unatego on Thursday.

In the second set, Olsen-Nichols served 25 straight points for the shutout, and many of those points were aces, said Oxford head coach Kim Martin.

Madalyn Barrows contributed six kills, and Jaclyn Ruff had five kills in the victory.

SIDNEY - Sidney rebounded from a second-set loss to Greene winning in four sets on Thursday, 25-12, 20-25, 25-16, 25-16.

Layla Rollins had eight aces for the Warriors, while Aurienna Larson picked up five kills and six aces.

Lillian Kemp topped Greene with six aces, and teammate Nicole Marks finished with four kills, two aces, and two stuff blocks.

Leaders:

Greene: Lillian Kemp 6 aces; Nicole Marks 4 kills, 2 aces, 2 blocks.

Sidney:  Layla Rollins 8 aces; Aurienna Larson 6 aces, 5 kills; Aceleinn Brainard 5 aces; Kelcie Cowan 4 aces, 2 assists; Bri Taylor 3 aces.
