Five Indicted For Felonies In Chenango County

CHENANGO COUNTY – Five individuals were indicted on felony charges in unrelated cases, including rape, an alleged threat to blow up the Chenango County Courthouse, and the beating of a police officer.

Timothy W. Potter Jr. was indicted with predatory sexual assault against a child, a class A felony, first-degree rape, a class B felony, and second-degree rape, a class D felony.

Potter’s indictment states that between November 2018 and February 2019, in the Town of Norwich, Potter raped a victim under the age of 13.

Russell J. Hyer was indicted for making a terroristic threat, a class D felony.

Hyer’s indictment states that on October 23, 2020 and October 28, 2020, Hyer made a terroristic threat with the intent to intimidate or coerce a civilian population, influence the policy of a unit of government by intimidation or coercion, or affect the conduct of a unit of government by murder, assassination or kidnapping.
