NORWICH - The Norwich Housing Authority confirmed four positive coronavirus cases at Peacock Park Manor Apartments on Monday, and said the entire facility is on quarantine until April 20.

According to Norwich Housing Authority Executive Director Tamara Cobb, only essential workers and health aides will be coming in and out of the apartments, with mail and other necessary packages being delivered to the main office.

“There are four confirmed cases of COVID-19 at Peacock Manor,” said Cobb. “As of Sunday the whole facility is being quarantined for 14 days.”

“No one should be going out unless they’re an essential worker, and I put a stop on any new leases until I’m sure it’s under control and safe for everyone.”

Cobb said there are 59 apartments being rented out currently, and many of the residents are members of the at-risk population for the coronavirus.

“I think that this is the only way we can make sure we control the spread of the virus within our facility, and we’re doing everything we can to keep people safe,” she said. “This is like a second family for me, I don’t want to see anything happen to them.”
