NORWICH – Does your son or daughter want to reach the “Black Flag” level of wrestling? All students set to enter sixth grade and up can join Norwich varsity wrestling head coach, Bob Hagenbuch and his staff for the second annual Black Flag Wrestling Camp at the YMCA.

“The camp will focus on highly intense drills, or the black flag level, and conditioning with instructions on old and new techniques,” said Hagenbuch. “Students will become familiar with wrestling rules while situational wrestling will be incorporated in into the lessons.”

Along with Hagenbuch, the coach of the extremely successful Norwich Purple Tornado wrestling program, the coaching staff of the past has included Binghamton University wrestlers Tristan Rifanburg and Frankie Garcia. This year, the coaches that will be featured are two-time New York State Champion Dante Geislinger and former Norwich Purple Tornado wrestling stand-out and coach Joe Downey.

The Camp begins Monday, July 15 at 8 a.m. and concludes Friday, July 19. The length of a day of instruction is four hours and will take place in the field house at the Norwich YMCA.

Cost to attend the camp is $75 for YMCA members, $85 for non-members. Campers who attend will receive Chobani Yogurt, water and Gatorade during their half and hours break each session as well as a “Black Flag Wrestling Camp” t-shirt at the conclusion of the week.

Proceeds from the camp will be shared between the Norwich YMCA and the Norwich wrestling program.
