Greene 5 Unadilla Valley 4

GREENE – In its third meeting with UV this season – all one-run games – Greene grabbed the rubber match when Zach Lindow hustled home with the Trojans’ fifth run in the bottom of the fifth following a wild pitch.

UV led early with three runs in the second. Brendan Brooker’s RBI single scored one run, and two other runs came in on an error to make it 3-1.

Greene gave up another run in the third before mounting a rally. Kurt Bartholomew’s two-run single drew his team to within one, and Alex Kozisky tied the game with a single.

Greene hurler Alex Csigi finished the game with four shutout innings to earn the victory. He was helped by a double play in the fifth, and finished the game with a one-two-three inning in the seventh.

NORWICH – Owego used three big innings to pull away for the victory over Norwich Monday night.

The Indians scored four in their opening at-bat, added four more in the fifth, and tacked on five in the sixth to create a 13-run bulge.

The Indians’ C.J. Bergmann was 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, and teammate Michael Yanchus added three hits and two RBI. “They were finding holes all over the place,” said Norwich coach Rich Turnbull of Owego’s 17 hits. “It wasn’t as if they were hitting bombs. They were just seeing-eye singles.”

Colby Griffin and Josh Haines had two hits apiece for Norwich, and Derek Manwarren added a two-run double in the seventh.
