SMYRNA – In celebration of their bicentennial, the Town of Smyrna has held an event every month of 2008, and as the year draws to a close, the town is hoping everyone will come out in support of their final event.

The Smyrna Auxiliary and the Bicentennial Committee are teaming up for their final event of the year. The event, held on Saturday, will begin at 6 p.m. with a community sing at the Smyrna Firehouse, and the chance for a visit with Santa Claus.

In celebration of the season, the final bicentennial event will focus on the holidays. According to Bicentennial Committee member Barb Schwarting, participants will gather at the firehouse for a community sing along. Plans are in the works for accompaniment. “We will have the words to the most popular Christmas songs available in case your memory comes up short,” Schwarting said.
