OXFORD— The Oxford Blackhawks PONY league team hosted Delhi in a doubleheader on Thursday night with one game being a resumed game from previously and the other a fresh seven inning game.

Both teams battled with Oxford taking the first game 7-1, already having a 3-0 lead when resuming the game. Delhi won the second game, which was a high-scoring affair 14-13 to split the two-game set.

Game 1:

Oxford 7 - Delhi 1

Joey Locke led Oxford with three hits in the win with all singles and also worked his magic on the mound. He allowed one run on two hits, one walk, and struck out seven in a relief appearance.

Oxford scored seven runs on six hits with three off Locke and one hit from Noah Bush, Ryker Heggie, and Colton Hurlburt. Locke also stole five bases in the win.

Josh Knapp got the start on the mound for the Blackhawks, going three innings, allowing just a walk and six strikeouts.

Game 2:

Delhi 14 - Oxford 13

Delhi won the game in walk-off fashion after the game was tied at 13 in the bottom of the seventh inning.

Both teams battled out in the first three innings before Oxford scored two runs in the top of the fourth to break a 8-8 tie. Delhi took a 11-10 lead after five and had a 13-11 lead after six. Oxford tied the game at 13 in the top of the seventh but could not hold Delhi to send the game into extras.

Oxford scored 13 runs on six hits with Noah Bush leading the team with two hits and two RBIs. Alarik Davenport, Joey Locke, Evan Johnson, and Troy Stone each had a hit in the loss.

Alarik Davenport started the game, allowing five runs (three earned) on two hits, four walks, and struck out four batters through two innings. Colton Hurlburt (three innings), Ryker Heggie (one inning), and Joey Locke (a third of an inning) all pitched in relief.
