SIDNEY — The Sidney Memorial Public Library would like to invite everyone to join us for a special solo exhibition entitled “12 Freedoms” by artist Mark Strodl on Thursday, July 2 from 3 to 5 p.m. In celebration of America 250, this exhibition explores the theme of “Freedom” through Strodl’s distinctive works in mural watercolor. The exhibit will be on display in the Smart Community Room through July 24 during library hours.

Mark Strodl is a multidisciplinary artist working across mural watercolors, digital surrealism, and video storytelling. A graduate of the School of Visual Arts, he has presented more than nine solo exhibitions and is represented by Denise Bibro Fine Art in New York City. His work explores transformation, perception, and the intersection of reality and imagination.

The Sidney Memorial Public Library will be closed Friday, July 3, Saturday, July 4 and Sunday, July 5. The library will be closed on Sundays from July 5 through Labor Day weekend.

On Saturday, July 11 from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Scott Payne will be presenting the next in a series of history programs, “Total Destruction and Devastation: The Sullivan-Clinton Expedition Against the Haudenosaunee.” This program will be held in our Smart Community Room.

We are gearing up for a fantastic Summer Reading Program. Kids and teens be sure to stop by the library and register for this year’s program. This year’s theme is ‘Unearth A Story.’ Our Kick-Off Party will be held Monday, July 6 at 4 p.m. Along with our regular kids, youth and adult programs we have a great line up of special programs for the summer including Book Club Meet-Up, Adult Trivia Night, Dinosaur Magic Show, a free family event, Dig, Explore, and Build, a special STEM event, “Digging it”, and Puzzle Wars.
