NORWICH— On Friday, May 1, the Norwich Purple Tornado track and field team hosted the 19th annual REK Friends forever meet in honor of Rachael Nargiso, Emily Collins, and Kate Almeter, who tragically passed away in November 2000. The invitational featured Sidney, B-G, Newark Valley Edmeston/Morris, UV, Deposit-Hancock, Oxford-Greene , DeRuyter, Morrisville-Eaton, Harpursville/Afton, Sherburne-Earlville, Unatego/Franklin, Cincinnatus, Madison, Stockbridge, and Gilbertsville-Mount Upton.

The Sidney girls won the meet with 136.33 points with B-G in third with 66 points, Norwich tied for fifth place with UV, Oxford-Greene in eighth, Harpursville-Afton in 11th, and S-E in 12th.

For the boys, Sidney won the meet with 129 points as Norwich took second with 68 points. Oxford-Greene came in third with 59 points with B-G in fourth, UV and S-E tied for ninth, and Harpursville-Afton in 12th with 16 points.

Girls’ Track:

Laila Williams won the girls’ 100 meter hurdles with the fastest time of 16.83 seconds.

Keelan Ammon took third in the 100 meter dash with a time of 13.43 seconds.

Ammon took second in the 200 meter dash with a time of 27.42 seconds, behind Sidney’s leading 26.40 seconds. Shweta Fazio finished 14th with a time of 31.63 seconds with Isabel Suda in 33rd with a time of 41.88 seconds.

Madalynn Beardslee finished ninth in the 1500 meter run with a time of 6:12.52 as Macey LaFever earned a 10th place finish with a time of 6:16.08.

Madisyn Larsen took second in the 400 meter dash with a time of 1:00.80, behind Sidney’s leading 58.89.

Williams came in seventh place with a time of 1:06.28 as Isabel Suda finished 23rd (1:15.34), Shweta Fazio in 24th (1:15.39), and Breegan George in 28th (1:25.92).

Lalaenia Baldwin finished seventh in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:47.48.

The B-G’s 4x100 meter relay won their respective event with the fastest time of 1:01.25.

Girls’ Field:

Lalaenia Baldwin took second in the girls’ triple jump with a jump of 31 feet, two and a half inches, behind Sidney’s leading 31 feet, seven inches. Madisyn Larsen finished eighth with a jump of 28 feet, two inches.

Marissa Mayo won the girls’ discus throw with a top throw of 105 feet, one inch with Tori Suda in third with a throw of 88 feet, five inches. Baldwin finished 12th with a throw of 67 feet, nine inches with Hailey Maye in 18th with a throw of 64 feet, two inches.

Maye threw for 15 feet, 10 and a quarter inches in the shot put for 31st.

Boys’ Track:

Isaiah Hampton won the boys’ 100 meter dash with the fastest time of 11.45 seconds.

Jackari Garipoli finished fourth in the boys’ 2000 meter steeplechase with a time of 7:45.23 as Rowan Beasinger followed in fifth with a time of 7:45.53 and Christian Campbell came in eighth place with a time of 8:31.29.

Garipoli took second in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 1:04.03, behind Sidney’s leading 59.82 seconds.

Owen Degan took second in the 1600 meter run with a time of 4:38.60, behind Unatego/Franklin’s leading 4:35.39.

Ethan Beardslee finished sixth in the 400 meter dash with a time of 54.63 seconds with My’Kel George in ninth place with a time of 57.72 seconds.

Christian Campbell finished 18th in the boys’ 800 meter run with a time of 2:50.39.

George came in 14th in the boys’ 200 meter dash with a time of 25.95 seconds with Theo Loya in 28th with a time of 27.93 seconds.

The B-G boys’ 4x100 relay team finished ninth with a time of 1:10.12.

Boys’ Field:

Isaiah Hampton won the boys’ high jump as he cleared six feet, two inches. Hampton also won the long jump with a new best 23 feet, three and a quarter inches to extend his record.

Ethan Beardslee jumped 18 feet, two and a quarter inches for ninth place in the long jump.

Matthew Wombacker cleared eight feet, six inches for fourth place in the pole vault.

Ryan Larsen came in sixth place in the boys’ discus throw with a throw of 121 feet, five inches as Caleb Larsen earned a top 10 finish with a throw of 108 feet, three inches.

Brian Lynn threw for 98 feet, seven inches for 17th place.

Ryan Larsen finished eighth in the shot put with a throw of 39 feet, two and 3/4 inches with Caleb Larsen in 18th with a throw of 33 feet, two inches.

Lynn finished 40th with a throw of 25 feet, four inches with Jonathan Monuszko in 50th with a throw of 21 feet, eight and a half inches.

GMU:

Girls’ Track:

Andrea Favinger came in sixth place in the 400 meter dash with a time of 1:06.06 and finished fourth in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:40.10.

Alex Irons came in 22nd with a time of 34.40 seconds in the 200 meter dash.

Girls’ Field:

Lily Haupfleisch earned a top 10 finish in the discus throw with a throw of 75 feet, seven inches as Bailey Howard followed in 11th with a throw of 74 feet, three inches. Kaylin Williams finished 17th with a throw of 65 feet, six inches.

Haupfleisch took third in the shot put with a throw of 28 feet, 10 and a half inches with Howard in ninth with a throw of 25 feet and a half inch.

Boys’ Track:

Logan Panek took fifth in the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 23.37 seconds.

Eighth grader Peyton Nelson finished 15th in the 400 meter dash with a time of 59.31 with Charlie Butler in 18th with a time of 1:00.74.

Caden Champion and Cooper Gundlach both ran the 800 meter, where Champion came in 21st with a time of 2:59.93 with Gundlach in 24th with a time of 3:42.07.

Nelson also competed in the 200 meter dash, where he finished 26th with a time of 27.74 seconds.

Damien Miller finished 34th in the same event with a time of 29.65 seconds.

Girls’ Track:

Appalonia Bushaw came in ninth place in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 20.20.

Kathleen Charette finished 11th in the girls’ 100 meter dash with a time of 14.40 seconds as Amber Tyler finished 14th in the 1500 meter run with a time of 6:31.91.

Angelina Quaglia earned a top 10 finish in the 400 meter dash with a time of 1:09.27 with Tabitha Charette in 19th with a time of 1:13.11.

Corrine Hine came in 19th place in the 200 meter dash with a time of 32.78 seconds with Hiliana Mendoza in 21st with a time of 33.96 seconds. Gabriella Gross finished 30th in the 800 meter run with a time of 3:29.05.

Girls’ Field:

Appalonia Bushaw won the girls’ high jump event as she cleared a best four feet, 10 inches.

She also won the long jump with a top jump of 17 feet, one inch. Hiliana Mendoza finished 31st in the same event with a jump of 11 feet, five and a quarter inches.

Kelsey Brewster finished 22nd with a throw of 19 feet, nine inches with Madison Joslin in 24th with a throw of 18 feet, three and a half inches.

Boys’ Track:

Sean Fowler took third in the 2000 meter steeplechase with a time of 7:27.78 and took fifth in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 1:07.81.

Nolan Shofkom finished 12th in the boys’ 100 meter dash with a time of 12.31 seconds.

Connor Rowe came in 20th in the 1600 meter run with a time of 6:33.11.

Aiden Quick finished 11th in the 400 meter dash with a time of 58.88 seconds with Xander Quick in 21st with a time of 1:01.73. Mason Lans came in 26th with a time of 1:03.51 as Max DiRosa finished 34th with a time of 1:15.86.

Xander Quick finished 20th in the 200 meter dash with a time of 26.65 seconds with Cole Hine in 32nd with a time of 28.95 seconds.

The Harpursville/Afton boys’ 4x100 meter relay team finished sixth with a time of 55.93 seconds.

Boys’ Field:

Nolan Shofkom took fifth in the boys’ high jump as he cleared five feet, eight inches.

Daniel Woodruff came in sixth in the long jump with a jump of 18 feet, eight inches with Jayden DeLeon in eighth with a jump of 18 feet, five and a half inches.

Kaden Kehoe earned a top 10 finish in the same event with a jump of 18 feet, one and a half inches.

Chris Moyer finished fourth in the boys’ triple jump with a jump of 37 feet, one and a quarter inches.

Charles Closs threw for 88 feet, six inches in the discus for 18th place.

Closs, Cooper Warren, Damien Nickerson, Marcus Chavis, and Owen Vandermark all competed in the shot put event. Closs led the crew with a 14th place finish with a throw of 35 feet, two inches.

Warren finished 16th with a throw of 34 feet, four inches as Nickerson finished 29th with a throw of 30 feet, three and 3/4 inches.

Chavis came in 30th with a throw of 30 feet and a half inch while Vandermark finished 35th with a throw of 26 feet, eight and 3/4 inches.

NHS:

Girls’ Track:

McKenzie Hagenbuch took second in the 2000 meter steeplechase with a time of 8:14.69, behind Newark Valley’s leading 8:01.24. Natalie Phillips finished 11th with a time of 10:07.17.

Hagenbuch broke the school record in the steeplechase, which was a previous record held by Norwich 2015 alum Martha Clemens.

The Norwich girls’ 4x100 meter relay team finished fourth with a time of 56.62 seconds.

Malea Sutton and Laci Zieno both ran the 1500 meters, where Sutton finished 17th with a time of 6:49.59 as Zieno finished 22nd with a time of 8:07.56.

Tristan Monroe finished 16th in the 400 meter dash with a time of 1:12.55 as Bella Shepard came in 18th place in the girls’ 100 meter hurdles with a time of 22.44 seconds.

Sutton and Zieno also ran the 800 meters, where Sutton finished 24th with a time of 3:11.06 as Zieno came in 31st with a time of 3:53.93. Kali Wright followed Zieno and finished 32nd with a time of 3:54.13.

Natalie Phillips came in sixth place in the 3000 meter run with a time of 14:41.51.

Hagenbuch, Monroe, Shepard, and Layla Root took fifth in the girls’ 800 meter sprint medley relay with a time of 2:10.33. The Norwich girls’ 4x100 finished fourth with a time of 1:07.23.

Girls’ Field:

Reagan Decker took third in the girls’ high jump as she cleared four feet, six inches.

Malea Sutton cleared a height of six feet, six inches in the pole vault.

Tristan Monroe, Decker, Bella Shepard, Jordan Slentz, and Fern Farrow all competed in the girls’ long jump, where Monroe led the crew with a sixth place finish with a jump of 14 feet, nine and 3/4 inches.

Decker came in 12th place with a jump of 13 feet, eight inches as Shepard finished 20th with a jump of 12 feet, seven inches. Slentz jumped 12 feet for 25th place as Farrow finished 27th with a jump of 11 feet, 11 inches.

Skylar Romberg finished fourth in the discus throw with a throw of 87 feet, 10 inches as Olivia Palmer came in eighth place with a throw of 80 feet, five inches.

Natalie Phillips finished 11th in the shot put with a throw of 24 feet, three inches.

Boys’ Track:

Connor Marshall won the 110 meter hurdles with the fastest time of 17.16 seconds.

Nic Sutton won the 800 meter run with a top time of 2:09.22 with Anthony Roberts in 17th with a time of 2:41.93.

Sutton took second in the boys’ 2000 meter steeplechase with a time of 7:10.40, behind DeRuyter’s leading 6:58.29.

The Norwich boys’ 4x100 meter relay team took second with a time of 45.82 seconds, behind Sidney’s leading 45.20 seconds.

Damien Dubois finished 12th in the boys’ 100 meter dash with a time of 12.31 seconds as Cameron Carnachan finished 16th with a time of 12.39 seconds.

Alex Moutarde finished 17th in the 400 meter dash with a time of 1:00.11 as Anthony Roberts came in 18th in the 1600 meter run with a time of 6:06.53.

Carnachan, Dubois, Sutton, and Kassen Stubb took third in the boys’ 800 meter sprint medley relay with a time of 1:43.94. The Norwich boys’ 4x100 meter relay team finished seventh with a time of 57.94 seconds.

Boys’ Field:

Kassen Stubb took second in the boys’ high jump, as he cleared six feet. Connor Marshall came in eighth place, where he cleared five feet, six inches and Zach Monroe cleared five feet for 15th place.

Stubb took third in the boys’ long jump with a jump of 19 feet, 10 inches as Zach Monroe finished 14th with a jump of 17 feet, one and a quarter inches. Monroe came in 11th place in the triple jump with a jump of 34 feet.

Kaden Downey took third in the discus throw with a throw of 132 feet, four inches with Dean Westervelt in ninth place with a throw of 110 feet, two inches. Liam White finished 20th with a throw of 86 feet, eight inches.

Downey also came in third in the shot put with a throw of 44 feet, 11 and a half inches with Quentin Berg in 17th with a throw of 33 feet, eight inches.

Anderson Bosworth finished 41st with a throw of 25 feet, two inches with Collin Howe in 43rd with a throw of 25 feet, one and a quarter inches.

O-G:

Girls’ Track:

Clare Tompkins won the 1500 meter run to lead the O-G girls with the fastest time of 5:14.98.

Tompkins also came away with the victory in the 800 meter run with a top time of 2:36.85.

Lilliana Davalius finished 13th in the same event with a time of 2:54.06.

Amani Amin, Khloe Waltz, Charlotte Hibler, and Tompkins took second in the girls’ 800 meter sprint medley relay with a time of 2:07.94, behind Sidney’s leading 2:00.80.

Amin, Hibler, Amelia Moroch, and Waltz finished eighth in the girls’ 4x100 meter relay with a time of 59.02 seconds.

Joyce Coston finished 17th in the girls’ 100 meter hurdles with a time of 22.13 seconds.

Coston also competed in the 400 meter hurdles, where she earned a sixth place finish with a time of 1:27.70.

Lillianna Davalius came in 20th in the 400 meter dash with a time of 1:14.04.

Hibler finished 28th in the 200 meter dash with Taylor Holdrege behind her in 29th with a time of 36.44 seconds and Miley Depew in 34th with a time of 41.90 seconds.

Girls’ Field:

Khloe Waltz came in eighth place in the girls’ high jump, as she cleared four feet, four inches. Miley Depew cleared four feet, 10 inches for a top 10 finish.

Clare Tompkins, Waltz, Amelia Moroch, Isabella McCumber, Joyce Coston, and Ava Romanowski all competed in the long jump. Tompkins led the ladies with a 12th place finish with a jump of 13 feet, eight inches.

Waltz finished 16th with a jump of 13 feet, four and a half inches with Moroch in 18th with a jump of 13 feet, one inch. McCumber came in 22nd with a jump of 12 feet, five inches as Coston finished 30th with a jump of 11 feet, eight inches and Romanowski in 37th (9-10).

Moroch came in ninth in the triple jump with a jump of 27 feet, two and a half inches.

Kaitlynn Ives earned a sixth place finish in the discus throw with a throw of 82 feet, eight inches and also came in sixth in the shot put with a throw of 26 feet, three and a quarter inches.

Boys’ Track:

Keegan Waltz won the 400 meter dash to lead the Oxford-Greene boys with the fastest time of 49.90 seconds.

Eddie Golden took fifth with a time of 54.52 seconds and Dallyn Camp in 10th with a time of 58.02 seconds.

Caleb Tennant finished 19th in the same event with a time of 1:01.23.

Dallyn Camp, Liam Griffin, Keegan Waltz, and Lazarus Ludolph took third in the boys’ 4x100 meter relay with a time of 46.64 seconds.

Sherman Ludolph took third in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:15.24 as Sam Suk finished 19th with a time of 2:54.09.

Griffin, David Dunckel, Lazarus Ludolph, and Liam Philippone all competed in the boys’ 200 meter dash, where Griffin led the way with a 10th place finish with a time of 25.70 seconds.

Dunckel came in 12th place with a time of 25.91 seconds as Ludolph finished 15th with a time of 26.11 seconds and Philippone in 16th with a time of 26.23 seconds.

Dunckel, Philippone, Lazarus Ludolph, and Eddie Golden finished fourth in the boys’ 800 meter sprint medley relay with a time of 1:46.11.

The Oxford-Greene boys’ 4x100 meter relay team won the event with a top time of 52.10 seconds.

Boys’ Field:

Keegan Waltz took second in the boys’ long jump with a jump of 20 feet, three and a quarter inches and took third in the boys’ high jump as he cleared six feet.

Sherman Ludolph also competed in the long jump, where he finished 18th with a jump of 16 feet, six inches.

He also finished seventh in the triple jump with a jump of 34 feet, four and a quarter inches.

Isaac Utter took fifth in the discus throw with a throw of 127 feet, five inches with Urijah Dibble in 14th with a throw of 100 feet, two inches. Liam Griffin threw for 87 feet, four inches to come in 19th place.

Dibble threw for 44 feet, eight inches for fourth place in the shot put with Utter in sixth with a throw of 40 feet, four and 3/4 inches.

David Dunckel finished 31st with a throw of 29 feet, three and 3/4 inches as Aiden Mellem came in 33rd with a throw of 27 feet, 11 inches.

Fitzy Denkers threw for 24 feet, two inches in 45th place as Dakota Wrench followed in 46th place with a throw of 23 feet, five inches and Max Pecka in 49th (21-9.75).

S-E:

Girls’ Track:

Shaelan Ryan came in eighth place in the 2000 meter steeplechase with a time of 9:27.35 with Emma Reinhardt behind her in ninth with a time of 9:49.57.

Ryan, Reinhardt, Cora Chapman, and Isabel MaGrath earned a top 10 finish in the girls’ 4x100 meter relay with a time of 1:00.96.

Avery Solloway finished 12th in the girls’ 100 meter dash with a time of 14.42 seconds.

Laila Babcock took second in the girls’ 400 meter hurdles with a time of 1:14.93, behind Newark Valley’s leading 1:14.17.

Reinhardt, Rose Rivenburg, and Layla Young all competed in the 200 meter dash, where Reinhardt came in 18th with a time of 32.64 seconds with Rivenburg in 20th with a time of 33.28 seconds and Young in 31st with a time of 38.94 seconds.

Isabel MaGrath took fifth in the 3000 meter run with a time of 13:18.37.

Rivenburg, MaGrath, Ryan, and Reinhardt finished sixth in the 800 meter sprint medley relay with a time of 2:16.76.

Girls’ Field:

Laila Babcock took third in the girls’ high jump as she cleared four feet, six inches with Avery Solloway in 12th, clearing four feet, two inches.

Solloway came in seventh in the girls’ long jump with a jump of 14 feet, six and a quarter inches as Rose Rivenburg finished 23rd with a jump of 12 feet, four and a quarter inches.

Boys’ Track:

Isaac Larchar finished sixth in the boys’ 2000 meter steeplechase with a time of 8:23.07 with Dominck Hirst behind him in seventh with a time of 8:29.53.

Thomas Osborne finished 11th with a time of 10:24.05 as Owen Kellog came in 12th with a time of 11:06.93 and Blake Smith in 13th with a time of 12:34.41.

Wyatt Jones, Clifford Russett, Logan Smith, and Charger Simmons earned a top 10 finish in the boys’ 4x100 meter relay with a time of 55.71 seconds.

Victor Smith took second in the boys’ 400 meter dash with a time of 52.71 seconds with Jones in 13th with a time of 59.17 seconds.

Smith finished fourth in the boys’ 100 meter dash with a time of 11.90 seconds as Hadden Price came in sixth with a time of 11.97 seconds.

Price took second in the 200 meter dash with a time of 24.21 seconds, behind Sidney’s leading 24.03 seconds. Smith came in sixth place with a time of 24.89 seconds.

Clifford Russett finished 21st with a time of 26.97 seconds with Matthew Morgan in 35th with a time of 29.67 seconds and Charger Simmons in 39th (31.02).

Brett Lewis ran the 1600 meter event in 5:33.30 for 11th place as Aaron Romanowski came in 14th with a time of 5:41.82. Dominick Hirst finished ninth in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 1:15.23.

Hirst, Jones, Russett, and Smith came in sixth place in the boys’ 800 meter sprint medley relay with a time of 1:49.09.

Boys’ Field:

Matthew Morgan came in 14th in the boys’ triple jump with a jump of 30 feet, eight and a quarter inches and finished 27th in the boys’ long jump with a jump of 14 feet, seven inches.

Owen Kellog threw 31 feet, 11 inches for 22nd place in the boys’ shot put as teammate Blake Smith finished 42nd with a throw of 25 feet, one and a half inches.

UV:

Girls’ Track:

Margaret Kemnah, Madison Dix, Molly Gorrell, and Natalya Schrag won the girls’ 4x800 meter relay over Newark Valley with the top time of 10:48.14.

Molly Sickmond, Avery Golliver, Noelle Fernandez-Naughton, and Mackenzie Lindholm took third in the girls’ 4x100 meter relay with a time of 54.89 seconds.

Lindholm took second in the 100 meter dash with a time of 13.40 seconds, behind Sidney’s leading 13.24 seconds.

Dix took fifth in the 400 meter dash with a time of 1:05.56 as Margaret Kemnah came in eighth place in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:47.66. Molly Gorrell ran to a ninth place finish with a time of 2:48.37.

Schrag earned a 10th place finish in the same event with a time of 2:48.58 as Dix ran to a 12th place finish (2:51.52).

Avery Golliver came in eighth place in the 200 meter dash with a time of 31.19 seconds.

Girls’ Field:

Mackenzie Lindholm took third in the girls’ long jump as she jumped 15 feet, seven and 3/4 inches.

Noelle Fernandez-Naughton came in eighth place with a jump of 14 feet, one and 3/4 inches with Molly Sickmond in 21st with a time of 12 feet, five and a half inches. Avery Golliver jumped 11 feet, nine inches for 29th place.

Fernandez-Naughton jumped to a sixth place finish in the triple jump with a jump of 29 feet, five inches as Golliver earned a top 10 finish with a jump of 24 feet, three and quarter inches.

Sickmond finished 12th with a jump of 23 feet exactly.

Freshman Klowi Knowles finished 28th in the shot put with a throw of 16 feet, nine and 3/4 inches.

Boys’ Track:

Donovan Ballard, Killian Wood, Brayden Prentice, and Denzel Peter came in sixth place in the boys’ 4x100 meter relay with a time of 48.28 seconds.

Jake Favinger, Ben Kemnah, Dominic Berthel, and Caleb Dix took third in the boys’ 4x800 meter relay with a time of 9:56.14, behind both Unatego/Franklin and Sidney.

Peter took fifth in the boys’ 100 meter dash with a time of 11.91 seconds as Favinger took fifth in the 1600 meter run with a time of 4:52.18.

Favinger ran to a sixth place finish in the 800 meters with a time of 2:17.50.

Braden Golliver finished 22nd in the 400 meter dash with a time of 1:02.17 as Caleb Dix followed in 23rd with a time of 1:02.58. Dominic Berthel finished 25th with a time of 1:03.31.

Brayden Prentice, Killian Wood, Wade Law, Dan Church and Golliver all competed in the 200 meter dash, where Prentice led the crew with an 18th place finish with a time of 26.58 seconds.

Wood came in 23rd with a time of 27.28 seconds with Law behind him in 24th with a time of 27.49 seconds.

Church finished 26th with a time of 27.74 seconds with Golliver in 30th with a time of 28.40 seconds.

Boys’ Field:

Denzel Peter finished fourth in the boys’ long jump with a jump of 19 feet, five and a half inches.

Jayden Edwards came in 11th place with a jump of 17 feet, eight and a quarter inches with Dan Church in 18th with a jump of 16 feet, six inches.

Brodey Cattanach finished 20th with a jump of 16 feet, five and a quarter inches as Tyler Yerton came in 29th with a jump of 13 feet, two inches and Killian Wood followed in 30th (13-1.25) with Wade Law in 31st (13-1).

Cattanach took second in the triple jump with a jump of 39 feet, three and a quarter inches, behind Newark Valley’s leading 39-7.25. Edwards earned a top 10 finish with a jump of 34 feet, one and 3/4 inches.

Brayden Prentice jumped 32 feet, 11 and a quarter inches for 12th place and Yerton finished 16th with a jump of 29 feet, three and a half inches.
