NORWICH - The Matthews Auto Group, with 16 locations in Upstate New York, Northeast PA and Boston MA, raised $153,561 at the 7th Annual Matthews Walk-A-Thon to benefit thirteen kids’ charities in Binghamton, Syracuse, Rochester, Norwich, Schenectady NY and Scranton PA, on Saturday, October 4.

The list of recipients includes Mom’s House ($9,531), A Room to Heal ($10,813), Handicapped Children’s Association ($9,660), Guthrie Hospice Vestal’s Camp Hope for Kids ($19,568), GiGi’s Playhouse ($28,485), Children’s Home of Wyoming Conference ($3,800), Upstate Golisano Children’s Hospital Syracuse ($9,324), Joseph’s House Syracuse ($9,701), ED23 Syracuse ($4,336), Child Advocacy Center of Greater Rochester ($11,226), Things of my Very Own in Schenectady ($18,837), Chenango County Child Advocacy Center in Norwich NY ($14,679), and St. Joseph’s Center in Scranton PA ($3,596). A total of $153,561 was raised, beating the goal by $3,561.

Matthews Auto donated $10 per mile for every mile walked by registered participants, to the charity or charities of the walker’s choosing (up to $75,000) plus Matthews matches cash donations up to $12,500 plus corporate sponsors contributed to exceeding the 2025 goal. 100% of the proceeds will be donated.

2657 walkers registered, pledging to walk over 7500 miles, and $15,850 was raised in cash donations.

Including this year’s event, $593,739 has been raised by the Matthews Walkathon since the event’s inception seven years ago. Ironically, on October 9th, Matthews Auto accepted an award in Nashville TN from Automotive News, the premiere auto industry publication, for the 2025 Philanthropy Award, and was also named the 2025 Corporate Citizen of the Year by The Greater Binghamton Chamber of Commerce earlier this year.

The Matthews Walkathon for 2026 is tentatively scheduled for October 3, 2026.
