SAYRE – The Norwich Purple Tornado girls basketball team traveled to Sayre, PA to play in the Valley Christmas tournament over winter break. The JV girls are also in the tournament and advanced to the finals with a 57-19 win over Tioga. The Varsity girls are joining them as Norwich took down Sayre 49-7 to snap a three-game skid.

Norwich dominated both ends of the court, shutting out Sayre, a class C school to zero points in the first quarter and held them to just a single free-throw in the final eight minutes. The Purple Tornado only allowed a field goal, a three-pointer, and two free-throws throughout the contest.

Josey Ryan posted 21 points to lead the Purple Tornado as Emma Urgo dropped 13. Brynley Ryan and Emma Koerts added four points apiece as Raegan Doliver had a three and Abby Brunick with a bucket. Alivia Burrell and Emma Baker both made one free-throw.

Norwich (3-4) faces Waverly in the Valley Christmas tournament on Saturday at 6 p.m.
