CLINTON – Both the Sherburne-Earlville boys’ and girls’ basketball teams played a double-header in Clinton on Thursday evening, which was a special night as the Comets raised money for Pancreatic Cancer. Admission was charged and went directly to the purple project in support of the cause.

While the S-E girls made a tremendous comeback in the second half, the boys couldn’t do the same. S-E fell 63-42 to the Comets with limited efforts in the first half. Clinton had a hot start with posting 26 points in the first eight minutes while S-E was held to just 16 points alone in the first half.

After being down 32-16 at the break, S-E started to settle in and improve in the second half. However, Clinton only matched efforts in the third quarter and extended their lead in the final eight minutes. S-E’s efforts in the second half came from senior Darren Miles with all seven of his points in the third quarter with help from Garret Winton and Nick Hull.

Winton led the team with 10 points as Dilen Maceda followed behind with nine points, where he knocked in two three’s in the first half. Miles finished with seven points as Aaron Key had five points and Nick Hull and Brayden O’Hara both scored four points in the loss.

S-E finished the 2023-2024 regular season with a 8-12 record and may see a playoff game. The Section III seeding meeting is this Saturday with the brackets expected to be announced following.
