NORWICH — The Norwich Family YMCA will be hosting their annual gingerbread house workshop once again this year on Sunday, December 17 from 3 to 5 p.m.

This year's theme is "A Charlie Brown Christmas," and YMCA Youth Development Director Kelly Reppert said the event will include decor and games aligned with the theme.

"We’re going to have a gingerbread man craft, and we have different holiday-themed games," she said. "Our theme this year is 'A Charlie Brown Christmas' so the games and the snacks and things like that are going to be around that theme, and the decorations."

Of course, the event wouldn't be complete without all the fixings to make a festive gingerbread house. There will also be a hot cocoa bar and delicious holiday treats.

"We’re going to have our gingerbread houses like always. We're going to provide different decorations and things to make an epic gingerbread house," said Reppert. "In addition to that, we’re going to have crafts and games, we’re going to have our hot cocoa bar with all the yummy toppings to go on it, and holiday treats."

Pre-registration is highly encouraged, and registration forms can be found online at norwich.recliquecore.com, on the Norwich Family YMCA Facebook page, or at the YMCA Member Service Desk. Attendance is $7 for YMCA members and $9 for non-members.

Reppert said although some at-the-door registrations will be accepted, it's best to sign up ahead of time as space and supplies are limited.

"It’s a fun family event," Reppert said. "We provide all of the supplies and we can take care of the mess, so kids can just come and enjoy and then go home with their beautiful gingerbread houses."

The Y has more family-friendly events scheduled for the future. Reppert said there will be an art-themed family fun night in February, and their annual Easter Bunny Breakfast is planned for the spring.
