Boys’ Swimming: Greene Falls To Lansing

LANSING – The Greene Trojans boys swim team traveled to Lansing on Friday evening, where the Trojans are still improving on swim times even in hard losses. Greene had three individual first place finishes, four second place finishes, and one team relay victory on the night.

Austin deHaan led the Trojans with two first place finishes with a achieving the top spot in both the 200 yard freestyle and in the 100 yard breast stroke. deHaan swam a time of 2:15.88 in the 200 yard freestyle event. Teammate Jon Westcott finished second in the breaststroke behind deHaan and also took third in the 100 yard butterfly with a time of 1:14.30.

Sophomore Drake Malmquist swam a top finish in the 100 yard backstroke while finishing second in the 100 yard freestyle. In the backstroke, Malmquist swam a personal best time of 1:17.24. Izan Romero Requena competed in the 100 yard freestyle as well, where he finished fourth with a time of 1:27.07. He also finished fourth in the 50 yard freestyle with Hunter Becker in second and Sherman Ludolph in third place.

Becker achieved another second place finish in the 500 yard freestyle event, which he swam in 6:36.66 with teammate Gavin Demars behind him in third (7:26.77). Demars also swam in the 200 yard individual medley, where he took fourth place (3:03.13).

Becker, Demars, Malmquist, and deHaan earned the first place team victory in the 400 yard freestyle relay with the best qualified time of 4:23.67.

Greene hosts Windsor this evening (Tuesday) at 5:30 p.m.
