NORWICH – Accused murderer Ganesh R. Ramsaran pleaded guilty to the 2012 slaying of his wife Thursday afternoon in Chenango County Court and accepted a sentence of 22 years in prison for a reduced charge of manslaughter. He also waived his right to appeal.

In October of 2022, Ramsaran was granted a retrial over the 2014 murder conviction of Jennifer Ramsaran, after it was determined his previous defense was not adequate.

On Thursday Special Prosecutor from Broome County Ben Bergman, said the admission by Ramsaran Thursday afternoon was the truth of the the case finally coming out. He said he consulted with the family for approval before making the plea deal.

“It's a day for the family and for local justice, this defendant made continual denials,” said Bergman.
