BAINBRIDGE – Coming off a big win on senior night, the Oxford Blackhawks came away with a 3-2 upset against MAC opponent Bainbridge-Guilford on Thursday night. The Blackhawks were down 2-0 at halftime before pushing through together to hold the Bobcats.

B-G’s brief lead came off goals from Johnna Henderson and Keelan Ammon. For Henderson, it was her 22nd goal of the season. Ammon has four goals.

Oxford fought in the second half and created strong scoring opportunities that only helped them pull off the upset. Kayla Knapp, the Blackhawks’ leading scorer, scored on a direct penalty kick, which was her 10th goal of the season.

Paige Rickard got in on the action with a goal of her own off a pass from Taegan Manwarren. This comes after Manwarren’s three-assist night in Oxford’s previous game.

Senior Jocie Finch was able to get a nice touch off a pass from Knapp and scored the game-winner with 1:44 left in regulation.

“I am so proud of these girls,” Coach Rachel Seiler said. “The girls played hard until the final whistle, which they have been doing all season long.”
