DELHI – Coming off some tough losses, the Oxford Blackhawks girls’ soccer team remained confident as they headed to Delhi on Thursday. The Blackhawks pushed through until the end, where the odds were in their favor as Taegan Manwarren scored the game-winner in overtime. Oxford earned the 1-0 victory.
Manwarren’s goal came 33 seconds into the second half of overtime off an assist by senior Jocie Finch. Raya Warner stood her ground in goal and made 16 saves in the win.
Coach Rachel Seiler complimented her team following the game.
“It was not our best performance overall, but the girls worked hard and did not give up the entire game!”
Oxford currently stands at 3-5 on the season with a 1-3 divisional record and a 2-3 league record. They are also in third place in MAC division II behind UV and B-G.
The Blackhawks have some time to rest and prepare for the next game as they will travel to Sidney on Wednesday, September 27 at 5 p.m.
