GREENE – The Greene Trojans golf team came to play in Thursday’s match against Deposit/Hancock. The Trojans shot one of their lowest scores with a 210 to pick up their fourth victory of the season. Greene shot an impressive 208 last season, so the 210 still ranks significantly well.
Paving the way for the Trojans was Parker Flanagan who finished two-over par with a 38 as Lincoln Youngs shot a 40. Flanagan and Youngs have been quite a pair over the last few seasons, where it’s always expected to see them to be one and/or two on the leaderboards.
That isn’t to take away the efforts of the other four in Greene’s lineup, who are all doing well themselves. Austin Dehaan continues to have a strong final season as he shot a 42 with fellow senior Noah Symons behind him with a 44. Trent Drew rounded out the scoring with a 46 as Hunter Becker saw some playing time as the Trojans’ sixth golfer.
Deposit/Hancock’s scores ranged from a 47 to a 55.
Greene (4-1) heads to Oxford on Tuesday at 4 p.m. It’s likely to be a competitive match, especially with Oxford receiving the home course advantage this time.
