OXFORD — The Oxford Blackhawks boys’ soccer team are unbeaten in tournaments to start the 2026 season after winning the Sherburne-Earlville kick off tournament and now their very own annual tournament. The Blackhawks defeated both Windsor and Sidney to win and are now 3-1 on the season.

Oxford will resume MAC league play on Wednesday home against UV/GMU at 4:30 p.m.

Friday’s game:

Oxford 3 - Windsor 1

Oxford had great possession and a strong defense against the Black Knights while also seeing many corner kicks as well. Dawson Viele and the Blackhawks were able to capitalize on a corner kick as he kicked it to Joey Locke who headed it in for the first goal. It was 1-0 Oxford at halftime before the Blackhawks came back out strong. Adam Beckwith played good defense in front of the net to prevent Windsor from tying the game early in the second half. Paxton LaMonica had opportunities to shoot the ball, which he scored eight minutes into the second half off an assist by Joey Locke. Gordon Smith capitalized with pressuring the goalie to score the third goal for Oxford. Oxford goalkeeper Gaven Dibble made great saves towards the end of the game and Oxford stood their ground defensively.

Saturday’s game:

Oxford 7 - Sidney 2

After both teams won their first round games, Oxford and Sidney played in a mini MAC game for the tournament championship. Oxford powered up on offense with seven goals. Gordon Smith led the team with four goals and an assist. Paxton LaMonica added two goals and two assists while Dawson Viele had one goal and assist and Joey Locke with an assist in the win. Dawson Viele, Paxton LaMonica, and Gordon Smith received all-star recognition following the game.
