SOUTH OTSELIC – In their second game of the season, the Otselic Valley Vikings boys soccer team hosted McGraw for the 2023 home opener. The Vikings fought through two halves and one overtime period, but came up short 3-2 with two minutes remaining in the second half of overtime.

McGraw took a 2-0 lead before OV answered back to tie with goals two minutes apart on great offensive possessions. The Vikings made it 2-1 on a direct off a foul where Austin Brown found Owen Davis, who headed it in for the score.

About two minutes later, OV’s Braeden Davis tied the game at two all off a rebound on a goalie save.

It was 2-2 at halftime with both teams pushing through back and forth to keep it the same until the second half of overtime. Coming back in off an injury, the McGraw player got the rebound and scored to end the game.

The Vikings played hard, despite feeling sore and tired, to keep up with the Eagles. Goalkeeper Caleb Loomis made 11 saves in the loss.

OV (0-2) hosts Madison on Friday at 7 p.m.
