Butternut Valley Grange News

GILBERTSVILLE – Butternut Valley Grange, Gilbertsville, will hold its regular meeting on Monday, September 11.

At the last meeting, Carrie DeJoy, Linda Gover, Michaela Lasher, and Lori White were welcomed as new members.

It is noted that Stan and Sally Leonard and Empire House recently renewed their associate membership status, greatly appreciated.

At the August meeting, checks of $50 each were presented to food pantries of Otego, Unadilla and Butternut Valley with representatives present, who shared some insights on the workings of each site.

The Grange voted to participate in National Grange’s FCC Affordable Connectivity Program, in efforts to bring about broadband services at affordable pricing to rural families. More details will follow from Roger Halbert as materials become available.

Emily Ferrell’s proposal for a Fall Evening of Fine Dining was accepted for the proposed date of Sunday, October 8.

Open to the public, this semi-formal event will consist of several courses, starting with mocktails. With experience in fine dining in New York City, the food will be prepared by a Grange Team lead by Emily Ferrell, a proud Grange member, who loves cooking and sharing hospitality. Reservations will be required as details are finalized.

The Grange will be providing homemade pies for the Harvest Festival in Cooperstown on September 16, also at the Covered Bridge Fall Festival in Unadilla on September 24. The Grange is planning a Pumpkin Fest on Saturday, October 14, chaired by Donna Dvoracek, which will feature area crafters and seasonal items, open to the public. The Grange voted to paint one side of the Grange Hall, a huge undertaking to be accomplished this fall.

Colleen Bushnell and Laurie Johnsen will greet members with beverages and conversation at 7 o’clock prior to Monday’s meeting.
