UNION SPRINGS – Coming off an upset against top seed Trumansburg, the Bainbridge-Guilford Bobcats baseball team won another exciting one as they defeated Union Springs 14-13. This win advances them to the Section IV, Class C baseball championship.
With the game knotted at nine apiece leading up to the sixth inning, the Bobcats scored five runs and held Union Springs to four to secure the tight victory. B-G scored the go-ahead run off an error before adding insurance runs as Kaiden Seymour hit a sacrifice fly and Jose Bivar with an RBI single. The game-winner proved to be Tim Kinter’s two-run single to left field.
Taking a 14-9 lead into the bottom of the sixth, B-G could not hold the Wolves from attempting a comeback. One run scored on a wild pitch and the next came on a bases-loaded sacrifice fly. An error and a fielder’s choice scored the final two runs. With the tying run on third base and two outs, Union Springs’ batter popped out to first baseman Gavin Gifford.
Neither team could score in the seventh inning as B-G held on to their one-run lead.
The Bobcats offense was led by Bivar, Kinter, and Julian Pruskowski who collected two of the 11 total hits. Connor Davy also provided a big home run to lead off the third inning.
Bivar led B-G with three RBIs while Davy, Kinter, and Damon Seymour drove in two runs each. Pruskowski, Ethan Beames, and Kaiden Seymour all had one RBI in the win.
The Bobcats also were tremendous on the bases as they stole eight on the day. Damon Seymour paved the way with three stolen bases.
Julian Pruskowski earned the win on the mound for B-G with Connor Davy and Kaiden Seymour helping out in relief. Pruskowski went four and two-thirds and struck out six batters. Davy struck out one batter as Kaiden Seymour earned the save and was credited with a clean outing.
