BASEBALL: Afton Bounces Back With A Big Win Over B-G

AFTON – After two tough losses, the Afton Crimson Knights breathed a sigh of relief as they picked up a 13-3 victory against Bainbridge-Guilford. Afton scored in three consecutive innings, including a game-high of five runs in the second, before scoring their final run in the fifth to settle in on a 13-0 lead.

The Crimson Knights were led by Ryan Wright and Braydon Baciuska who both contributed with two hits in their four plate appearances. Baciuska also drove in four RBIs and stole two bases on the day. Wright led the team with three stolen bases and was walked twice to score four runs in the win.

Ryan Wright also earned the win on the mound. He went six and a third innings, allowing one run on five hits, walked two batters, and struck out 15. Jacob Wright was called in to get the final two outs in the seventh, which he did despite giving up the two remaining runs on two hits.

For the Bobcats, Connor Davy, Ethan Beames, and Damon Seymour tallied up multiple hits in the loss. Beames drove in two runs and stole three bases while Seymour had a two-out RBI single in the sixth inning.

Kaiden Seymour earned the start on the mound for B-G, where he struck out seven batters through four innings pitched. Connor Davy and Ethan Beames finished the game in relief.

Afton (4-3) heads to Delhi to take on the Delhi/Downsville Bulldogs on Friday at 4:30 p.m. B-G (3-3) travels to Harpursville Friday at 4:30 p.m.

Norwich drops to Chenango Valley 12-0. Maddy Quattrocchi reached base on an error on a trick play the third baseman couldn’t field. She struck out two batters on the mound in the loss.
