NEW BERLIN – The Unadilla Valley Storm boys basketball team was eager to kick off its 2022 season in front of its home crowd on Tuesday evening. But, what they didn’t expect was for South Kortright to bring them down 70-30.

The Rams dominated early on to take a 40-15 lead at halftime. They were strong in three-point shots while putting up tremendous pressure on defense. While UV tried, South Kortright did not ease up at all.

Trason Murray got UV started out with a three-pointer in the first possession and attempted more, but was too heavily pressured all game. UV could not move or have leeway the entire game from a strong South Kortright defense.

The Storm was led by Haywood Edwards with eight points, including two three-pointers that didn’t come easily. Senior Trent Marinelli also knocked down a three and settled for seven points while Tucker Cattanach and Zach Smith tied with four points to round out a hard offensive night.

While UV appreciated a challenge, they seek a different atmosphere as they will participate in the Sherburne-Earlville tip-off tournament being held on December 2 and 3. UV will take on host S-E on Friday at 7:30 p.m. in the upper gym. Both teams are looking for their first win early in the season.

Admission will be charged. $1 for students and $3 for adults. These prices will be reflected at both the JV and Varsity games.
