Norwich Youth Wrestling Competes in Maryland Norwich Youth Wrestling celebrates win for Kolden Downey (Submitted Photo)

MARYLAND – On April 30 and May 1, Norwich youth wrestlers competed in the MAWA Northeastern National Championships held at Wicomico Civic Center in Salisbury, MD.

Robert Cunningham wrestled in the Midget Division (93 LBS) and lost two close matches while leading both matches in the third period.

Drew Telesky wrestled in the Junior Division (78 LBS) and won one match and lost two.   He lost in the quarterfinals to the eventual champion and in the consolations he lost by a point to fall just short to becoming an All-American.

  Kellen Downey wrestled in the Midget Division (85 LBS). He won three matches and lost two to become an All-American with a 7th place finish.

Kolden Downey wrestled in the Midget Division (134 LBS). He went 3-0 on the weekend to become a MAWA Northeastern National Champion.

Coach Telesky and Coach Schuster are proud of all the wrestlers hard work and their accomplishments this year and look forward to seeing everyone again next season.

The coaches, parents, and wrestlers would also like to thank the City of Norwich Youth Bureau for their support this year.
