Health department reports more COVID deaths and offers vaccine clinics The Chenango County Health Department announced they will be holding COVID-19 vaccine clinics every Tuesday from 9 to 11 a.m. and 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. at the South Plaza Clinic site, formerly Label Shopper. CHENANGO COUNTY — The health department released data this week that confirmed seven additional deaths attributed to COVID-19 in Chenango County, bringing the total of those lost to the virus up to 109.

No additional information about the deaths was released.

Beginning March 1 the Chenango County Health Department will be offering weekly vaccine clinics. Two sessions will be available every Tuesday, from 9 to 11 a.m. and from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. at the South Plaza Clinic location, formerly Label Shopper. Those who are not insured or underinsured can still receive vaccines.

Appointments can be made by calling 607-337-1660. The health department asks that any billing and fee questions are asked at the time of scheduling. Additionally, all vaccine recipients should bring immunization records and insurance information to the appointment, and children under 18 years of age must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

There will be two additional vaccine clinics available next week, from 3 to 5 p.m. on Friday, March 4. First doses of Pfizer vaccines are available for individuals aged 5 years and older, and Pfizer boosters are also available for recipients aged 12 years and older.

Vaccine eligibility varies depending on age and vaccine type. Currently, recipients aged five years and older are eligible for the Pfizer vaccine, and recipients aged 18 years and older can receive the Pfizer, Moderna, or the J&J/Janssen vaccine.

According to the Chenango County Health Department, as of Wednesday, February 23, 64.8 percent of the total Chenango County population has received at least one vaccine dose, and 75.1 percent of the 18 years and older population has received at least one vaccine dose.
