Oxford Uses Big Fourth Quarter To Edge B-G

Oxford 49, Bainbridge-Guilford 43

BAINBRIDGE - For the second straight game, Oxford used a fast start to the fourth quarter to propel it to victory.

B-G (3-5) finished the third quarter with all the momentum as Taylor Kazmirski hit a late 3 helping her club establish a 32-29 lead with eight minutes to play.

Oxford (9-4) began the final stanza on a 12-1 run. Ella Kelsey's three-pointer with five minutes left gave the Blackhawks the lead for good at 35-33. Moments later, Madalyn Barrows added another three as the lead grew to six.

"It was another tough win for us," said Oxford coach Chris Palmer. "B-G played extremely hard, and made us work for everything tonight. We had three players combine for four 3s in the fourth quarter. That really was the difference tonight."

Ava Benjamin also canned a three for the Blackhawks in the final quarter.

Barrows led all scorers with 25 points, and Kelsey scored nine.

Kazmirski and Celeste Baldwin led the Bobcats with 14 and 13 points respectively.
