Norwich Swimmers Move Record To 2-0

Norwich 84, Susquehanna Valley 73

CONKLIN - Norwich's boys swimming team improved its record to 2-0 on the season winning nine events in Tuesday night's victory over Susquehanna Valley.

Ethan Guzewich and Josiah Tyler had four overall victories for the Purple Tornado.

Guzewich won the 100- and 200-yard freestyle, and added legs to a pair of winning relays. Tyler also contributed legs to three relay victories, and was victorious in the 100-yard butterfly.

"The team did very well for the second meet of the season," said Norwich coach Kevin Diefenbacher. "We had 14 personal-best times, and nine swimmers score points for us."

Also grabbing victories for Norwich were Steven Kman (100 breaststroke), Gabe Sutton (50 free), and Tim Guzewich (100 backstroke).

Norwich returns to the pool next Tuesday against Chenango Forks.

Oneonta 96, Greene 57

ONEONTA -  Oneonta claimed victories in the first nine events, and dealt Greene (0-2) its second loss of the season on Wednesday.

After securing the victory, the Yellowjackets swam exhibition the final three events, which allowed the Trojans to claim first-place finishes.

Jaxson Calice won the 100 backstroke (1:33.82), Maeric Barrows was first in the 100 breaststroke (1:39.45), and Calice, Drake Malmquist, Logan Cloyd, and Gavin DeMars teamed for a win in the meet-closing 400-yard freestyle relay.

BOWLING

UV bowlers roll past Deposit

NEW BERLIN - Unadilla Valley's boys and girls won their second straight bowling match with each squad recording 5-0 shutout wins, Tuesday at Lake Street Lanes.

Brynn Grant topped the Storm girls with a match -high 542 series, while teammate Phalen Hill tossed a team-best 218 game.

Will Rumovicz and Nate Rumovicz led the way for the UV boys. Nate Rumowicz finished with a 684 series, which was capped by a 255 game.

Will Rumovicz had a match-high 256 game en route to a 626 series.
