OXFORD – Oxford made its stand in an end-of-half salvo in holding off Unadilla Valley on Saturday.

With two starters on the bench with foul trouble, the Blackhawks (2-0) stretched a one-point lead to six by halftime finishing on a 6-1 run.

"I felt that was a major moment," said Oxford coach Chris Palmer of the strong ending to the second quarter. "Then in the third, Kyla Kelsey-Jones gave us momentum with nine points (five of six free throws), and some outstanding rebounding."

Madalyn Barrows again led Oxford's scoring with 26 points to go with five steals. Kelsey Jones had a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds, and Ella Kelsey dished out a team-best four assists.

Kadence York led UV (0-2) with 20 points, and Madison Sayles pulled down a team-high 12 boards.
