SHERBURNE — A 14 foot tall replica of the twin towers will be unveiled at 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 11, at the Lok-N-Logs facility on Route 12, south of the Village of Sherburne.

Lok-N-Logs owner and founder Jim Webb said he’s wanted to build a memorial for many years, and that he wanted to make it happen for the 20th anniversary of 9/11.

“This is something that I’ve wanted to do ever since the original 9/11, to create some kind of monument,” said Webb. “I said, we gotta do it, it’s the 20th anniversary.”

Visitors can expect to see guest speakers, participate in a raffle, and enjoy light refreshments during the event.

The unveiling will also double as a fundraiser. Lok-N-Logs has partnered with Tunnels to Towers, an organization geared toward raising money for the families of 9/11 victims. Visitors can donate what they wish, and there will also be a raffle to raise money, Webb said. Lok-N-Logs will match up to $10,000 in raised funds.

“We’ve got permission with Tunnels to Towers to be a partner,” Webb explained. “And Lok-N-Logs is gonna match the giving of the $10,000 if it goes that high.”

In addition to the general public, invitations have been extended to religious officials, victims’ families, firemen, a retired General who will speak at the event, and numerous political officials. Webb has confirmed that Congresswoman Claudia Tenney will be in attendance.

United States Senators, political representatives, and recently appointed New York State Governer Kathy Hochul have been invited as well, said Webb, but their attendance has not yet been confirmed.

“Hopefully it’s going to be a lasting and impressive memorial,” said Webb. “We’re gonna try to involve as many folks as we can, and we want everybody to swing by and take a look.”
