CHENANGO COUNTY – Run Chenango is a nonprofit dedicated towards keeping run-based fundraising organized and helping other not-for-profit organizations.

According to Run Chenango Representative Pat Dietrich, the organization was created a few years ago when the Chamber of Commerce was having their Chobani Trail Run at the same time as another organization, which led to reduced turnout for both.

“Neither fundraiser did very well, and I think it was Steve Craig that spoke to Ann Coe and said that they should get more organized and help nonprofits raise funds,” said Dietrich. “The problem was it was getting to the point where we were just getting enough 5k and 10ks around here where none of them we’re doing very well.”

“After that we made Run Chenango, and everytime we hear about a race in Chenango County we ask them if they’d like to work with us to make sure it's organized and doesn’t overlap with another one.”

Dietrich said Run Chenango has raised funds for a variety of other nonprofits including Dollars for Scholars, The Arts Council, Amelia’s Voice, The Roger’s Center, and more.
