NORWICH – Chenango First Transit, a private bussing company holding a public-private contract with Chenango County, is in line for $1.6 million that's being funneled through county government to help offset financial inflictions of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Funds were greenlighted by the Chenango County Board of Supervisors earlier this month. According to a board resolution, an estimated $1.2 million will be used up by First Transit by the end of 2020. Remaining funds will be set aside for future transit operations.
