Police Investigate Fatal Car Accident In Greene

GREENE – New York State Police are investigating the cause of a fatal accident that occurred on Monday after a vehicle crossed into another lane, went off the roadway, and rolled onto its roof before catching fire.

According to New York State Troop C Public Information Officer Aga Dembinska, at approximately 9:42 a.m. on Monday troopers were dispatched to State Route 12 in Greene after a 911 caller reported an accident.

“The call came in through Chenango County 911 Services, and it was reported that the accident was just South of Chenango Sales,” said Dembinska.

Dembinksa said so far the investigation has revealed that the vehicle involved in the accident, a 2011 Nissan Rogue, was traveling on State Route 12 in the northbound direction when, “For an unknown reason, it crossed into the southbound lane, went off the roadway and subsequently rolled onto its roof before catching fire.”
